Bilateral International Relations
Professional cooperation of the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) with various - mainly European - SAIs resulted in the conclusion of. The fact that our institution has already become donor in its bilateral relations shows that the SAO as an audit institution and its audit methodology are internationally acknowledged and accepted.
The State Audit Office of Hungary successfully applied for PHARE pre-accession assistance in 1998 in order to fulfil its institutional capacity building objectives. These financial resources were utilised in the framework of awith the assistance of the SAIs of the United Kingdom, Bavaria and Denmark.
It is worth to mention the cooperation between(ECA), which was formulated along regular professional discussions since the beginning of the nineties, as well as the ECA trainee programme becoming open for Hungarian auditors from 1999. Our Institution - even before Hungary's EU membership - has started to take part actively in the on-site audits of the ECA focusing on the utilisation of EU funds in Hungary.
The State Audit Office of Hungary carries outconcerning cross-border issues or tasks of common interest. These audits aim at providing proper information to the public, government institutions of the participating countries and in certain cases the relevant EU institutions.
SAO staff members regularly participate inorganised by foreign partner institutions. These programmes provide good opportunity to broaden professional knowledge and further develop audit practices.
