A joint statement on the cooperation of state organisations in the fight against corruption was signed between the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice, the State Audit Office of Hungary, the Supreme Court of Hungary and the Prosecution Service of Hungary. On 18 November 2011, the Minister of Public Administration and Justice, Dr. Tibor Navracsics, the President of the State Audit Office of Hungary, Mr. László Domokos, the Prosecutor General of Hungary, Dr. Péter Polt and the President of the Supreme Court of Hungary, Dr. András Baka signed a joint statement on the cooperation of state organisations in the fight against corruption. According to the statement, ‘state organisations must bear special responsibility for the fight against corruption’ and the signatories ‘declare their commitment to the fight against corruption’. The document establishes that ‘all state organisations must take their share in the fight against corruption, primarily by reinforcing their ability to resist corruption’.
The signatories intend to conclude cooperation agreements with the leaders of other state organisations bearing special responsibility for the fight against corruption.
In his speech, Mr. László Domokos called the attention to the Integrity Project of the SAO, launched in 2009, which aims at mapping corruption risks and strengthening integrity based public administration.
The event received particular international attention. Among others, the Ambassadors of the United States of America, the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, as well as representatives of the Embassies of France and Austria were present.
