Dr. László Windisch, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO Hungary), received Mr. Ivica Gavrilović, the recently appointed President and Auditor General of the State Audit Institution of the Republic of Serbia (SAI Serbia), at his office on 30 July 2025. During the introductory visit, the two leaders discussed the current challenges faced by the supreme audit institutions and shared their experience in auditing construction projects and the navigability of the Danube.

The two parties identified the audit of public road management, the financing of road construction projects and road maintenance as one of the possible areas of cooperation between the two institutions. During the bilateral professional meeting, the SAO Hungary suggested that the two institutions could also exchange experience in the audit of the navigability of the Danube.
The two main audit institutions have already actively cooperated among others in the topic of water. Thus, the SAI Serbia joined the international cooperative audit initiated by the SAO Hungary on the accessibility and sustainability of water and wastewater management, on which a joint report was published with the participation of several countries. The two institutions also cooperate in various international working groups such as the EUROSAI Project Group on Benefits and Methodologies of Real Time Audit.
