The delegations of the Slovakian and Slovenian Supreme Audit Institutions, led by their presidents Ľubomír Andrassy and Jana Ahčin, consulted with the president and experts of the State Audit Office of Hungary in Budapest about the practices, challenges, and the possibility of future innovations in the field of auditing parties and campaign funds.
In the framework of the meeting, experts of the three delegations elaborated in detail on their tasks and experience in auditing the financial management of parties and the use of campaign funds. The negotiating parties revealed a number of similar problems in the topic, therefore – given that currently the audit of parliamentary election campaign funds and other expenses related to the operation of the parties is not on the agenda of the international audit community’s working groups – they suggested that it might be worth continuing the exchange of experience on party and campaign audit in a wider, even European circle.
