Under the agreement, the HCSO will establish competence working groups related to key sectors and professional areas, thereby supporting the SAO’s expertise and audit activities.
Focus on sustainable water replenishment of Lake Velence

In its latest report, the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) recommends conducting research and impact studies to lay the groundwork for the rehabilitation of Lake Velence’s water replenishment system in order to ensure a stable water supply in the long term. The SAO also considers it necessary to review the framework for the secondary use of facilities supporting water replenishment.

Dr. László Windisch, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary, presented the 2025 SAO Grand Prizes at a ceremony held to mark the anniversary of the 1956 revolution and war of independence. This year, the SAO Grand Prize was awarded to Mr. Tony Murphy, President of the European Court of Auditors, and Mr. Ferenc Vágujhelyi, Commissioner of the National Tax and Customs Administration.
