The President of the State Audit Office of Hungary has filed a lawsuit seeking the termination of the legal employment relationship of the President of the Integrity Authority

The President of the State Audit Office of Hungary filed a complaint today with the Budapest-Capital Regional Court, in which—in accordance with Paragraph 39 Section (4) of Act XXVII of 2022 on the Control of the Use of European Union Budget Funds— requested that the court terminate the legal relationship of the President of the Integrity Authority (hereinafter referred to as: IH) regarding the holding of this office.

The reason for the lawsuit is that the Central Chief Prosecution Office of Investigation filed an indictment against the President of the IH with the Central District Court of Pest, accusing him—among other things—of committing an official crime (abuse of office) and a crime against public trust (forgery of a public document). Under applicable law, charges related to these offences preclude the establishment of the legal employment relationship of the Integrity Authority’s President; in other words, the legal requirements necessary to hold this office are no longer met.

Based on the complaint, the Budapest-Capital Regional Court will decide on the termination of the Integrity Authority President’s legal relationship.
