The President of the State Audit Office of Hungary filed a complaint today with the Budapest-Capital Regional Court, in which—in accordance with Paragraph 39 Section (4) of Act XXVII of 2022 on the Control of the Use of European Union Budget Funds— requested that the court terminate the legal relationship of the President of the Integrity Authority (hereinafter referred to as: IH) regarding the holding of this office.
With a more carefully designed property tax system, local (property) tax revenues could be increased by approximately 10–15 percent even without raising tax rates. Based on the findings of its audits initiated in 2024 covering the property taxation practices of around 20 local governments, the State Audit Office of Hungary has formulated a number of constructive recommendations to support more efficient tax collection.

In its latest report on the navigability of the Danube, the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) pointed out that increasingly extreme fluctuations in the river’s water level pose a risk to ensuring navigation and to exploiting the river’s economic potential.
The Performance Audit Subcommittee of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) held its 17th annual meeting in Budapest on 24–25 March. The two-day event, chaired by the Office of the Comptroller & Auditor General of Ireland and organized by the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO), was attended by more than 50 audit professionals.
