The XXV INCOSAI has begun

The Congress of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INCOSAI) takes place between October 27 and 31, 2025. Held every three years, this event is the most important professional forum for supreme audit institutions (SAIs). Therefore, SAIs worldwide, including the State Audit Office of Hungary are attending the global event.

2025 SAO Grand Prize awarded

Dr. László Windisch, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary, presented the 2025 SAO Grand Prizes at a ceremony held to mark the anniversary of the 1956 revolution and war of independence. This year, the SAO Grand Prize was awarded to Mr. Tony Murphy, President of the European Court of Auditors, and Mr. Ferenc Vágujhelyi, Commissioner of the National Tax and Customs Administration.

Memorandum of Understanding with the Turkish Court of Accounts

On 22 September 2025, dr. László Windisch, President of the State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) received Mr. Metin Yener, President of the Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA), at his office. During the bilateral meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

The EU Contact Committee Working Group on Value Added Tax held its plenary session in Budapest

Between 15 – 17 September 2025, the meeting of the EU Contact Committee Working Group on Value Added Tax was hosted by the State Audit Office of Hungary. The aim of the nearly three-day meeting was to discuss the tasks facing the Supreme Audit Institutions taking into account the challenges of the digital age, with particular attention to the aspects related to the value added tax.

SAO report: Transport problems in the capital city still await a solution

The State Audit Office of Hungary (SAO) identified a number of management and financing problems in its report, which recorded the findings of its audit on the Centre for Budapest Transport (BKK Zrt.), the Budapest Transport Privately Held Corporation (BKV Zrt.) and the Municipality of Budapest as the owner exercising its rights.
